Roger's Christmas Village- Storybook house
Rogers Christmas Village- Storybook and Cottage Houses
Investigation
Investigators present- Melissa, Robyn, John, Al and Wanda.
Also joining us for this case were new members to the team- Kristi, Max and Ben.
Reported activity- The reports of activity inside the
Storybook House were few. Only one employee reported anything unusual. The
activity was limited to footsteps in the attic, a door to a utility closet that
slammed shut of its own accord one time and a doorbell on an inside door (a
door that has no access to the outside after renovations enclosed it) that will
buzz on its own when there is no one in that location.
The Storybook House is another building located on the grounds of Rogers Christmas
Village. It’s been told to us that this house used to be the Carriage House
when it was first built. The actual age of the Storybook House is unknown.
This house is named so after the characters from children’s books decorating the walls and
displays within it. It’s a fantasy land for any small child. Inside you will
find Sleeping Beauty asleep in her bed waiting for her Prince Charming to come
and wake her with that famous kiss. The Giant from Jack and the Beanstalk
hovers menacingly over Jack in the corner of the main room. Other colorful and elaborate
displays line the interior of this wonderland.
The Investigation: LSPIR arrived at Rogers at 8pm on
April 26th, 2008. We set up Central Command in the basement of the
Main Building just beneath the dining and kitchen areas. We split off into
three separate teams since we had also planned to investigate the Cottage House
once again. The three teams rotated areas and members throughout the course of
the investigation.
Infrared surveillance cameras were set up in the main room of the Cottage House just
inside the double glass doors at the end of the building, one in the attic and
two cameras each sitting side by side and facing opposite directions in the
main L shaped room on the first floor of the Storybook House. Every area of
reported activity was covered by the cameras and recorded onto the DVR. Most
members of the team carried digital cameras to photograph the areas being
investigated. And digital voice recorders were utilized throughout the night by
various team members.
The evening was relatively quiet and uneventful. There were a few personal experiences
though no strong photographic or video evidence was captured. Some EVPs were
caught during the first part of the investigation, early on inside the Cottage
House. Those audio files are all listed on the Audio Page of our site under
this investigation title.
In an effort to do something different in my reporting of the experiences the investigators
had during the case, I have decided to let them tell you what happened in their
own words. Each experience is being relayed first hand.
Unfortunately, Ben, Kristi and I were left without any personal happenings that night.
Storybook/Cottage
House Case-Personal Experiences
Max- In the story book house while
setting up cable (passing a cable through an inside window) I walked through
the door way going in and out, and there was nothing in the door way. When I
went to find John and Kristi I joked about a cold goose bumpy feeling, when we
came back though a stuffed snowman was laying in the middle of the doorway.
Melissa-Two personal experiences....in the
cottage during the EVP session with Ben and Pete present. Ben asked for a
noise, like a knocking, if the spirit would like us to leave. A few seconds
later we heard a knocking. Could have been coincidence as Al and Wanda, I
believe, had been walking outside somewhat near the cottage house. The other
personal experience was in the basement at the SBH. Ben, Wanda and I were in the far corner of
the basement and we could hear a sound from behind us. It wasn't the footsteps that were obvious and
above us. I had asked the question, "is there a message you would like us
to give your family?" then felt overwhelmingly sad. It was somewhat like the feeling that I had
at the Stringer House but not as intense.
Al and Wanda- Wanda experience was picking up an
odor of perfume in the cottage in the back area. This was shortly after we three
entered the cottage early in the evening around 9:15. In attempting to debunk
this I noted there was cleaning products in the storage area nearby. But Wanda
insisted that the odor she picked up was not the cleaning products but perfume.
My experiences were both with Max in the storybook house, Around 10:30 in
the area of the Spook items we both had the feeling of being engulfed by
something cooler and that was highly electrified, enough to cause the
hair on my arms to rise. EMF detector did not rise high enough to show this, It
did go off once for a second but not enough to signify the experience. The
field seemed to follow us down to the basement area and got even stronger in
that area. I attempted to find a place giving off Hi EMF but could not
locate any reason for the experience.
John- The only things I had happen to me is
my radio kept going crazy and dying and automatically scanning. Then I had the
cold spot on my arm while they were filming orbs flying towards my head and AL
did verify the spot with a thermometer. Heard whispering or voices in my ear
during the cold spot while inside the SBH with Max, Al and Kristi.
Aside from some interesting orb photographs, there is no evidence to provide in this case.
We did not find evidence of paranormal activity inside the Storybook House.
Personal experiences, while sometimes convincing, are not enough to be
considered evidence. LSPIR does not believe this location to be haunted.
The Cottage
House, on the other hand, appears to be a hotbed of certain types of activity.
We have recorded orbs on both video cameras as well as digital photographs.
These are orbs that we know not to be either dust or bugs due to their
movement, light emission and size, among other characteristics. Most of the
convincing evidence from this house has been the audio. Several EVPs have been
captured by several different investigators during both investigations of the
building. During the first investigation, we were able to capture the voice of
an older, ill tempered male and a younger, friendlier female. Both voices were
once again present during this investigation.
In conclusion, this investigation provided the team with more information into the
paranormal activity at Rogers Christmas Village. We do not believe the Story book
House or the Magnolia House have any substantial activity. Both the Main House
and Cottage have both proven to be hotbeds for audio activity.
Investigating here has been an absolute pleasure for this team. The staff at Rogers has come
to feel more like family rather than clients. We have hopes of investigating
the main building on the compound again in the future in order further our
research in a known haunted location.
The infamous bench where we captured the figure of a woman sitting outside the Cottage House during the our first investigation is below. Here we see another very bright orb hovering near this bench. It would seem these orbs are commonly photographed in this area.
Max, John and Kristi were in the Cottage House at one point during the night. Max had the Mini DV and was filming the room. At one point he felt a tap on his left shoulder and asked John if he had just tapped him. John was several feet away from Max and Unable to tap him. This orb was caught on Max's back by John once they realized that Max had just been touched.
